Nairobi - Vioja Mahakamani is by far one of Kenya’s oldest and most recognizable locally created television series.
It has been running for over 25 years, with some of the cast growing old in their roles. In recent times it has been overrun by younger and more entertaining series', appealing to the current generation of youth. It was because of its low viewership and following that its directors decided to give it a fresh new look.
The old cast comprised of characters like Ondiek Nyuka Kwota and Olexander Josphat were sidelined earlier in the year, with the show taking a much-deserved break from TV. Actors and comedians notably, Nice Githinji, Okal, Ayimba, Aliwa and Dr Ofweneke have replaced the old cast, giving the show a slightly younger look.
It goes live on the 24th of April (Tomorrow), in what is almost definitely going to be a make or break reintroduction.
The new cast has massive shoes to fill, the previous ones having left an almost unchallengeable legacy. Whether or not they will be able to do this, only time will tell.
