Mysterious Death in Meru
24 February 2012, 16:07
Police officers in Meru Central district have recovered a body of a 45 year old man who died on Wednesday night in mysterious circumstances at Marabi village in Githongo location.
Area OCPD Mr Sylvester Githungo said the deceased Joseph Mwirigi was last seen drinking with other revelers at a local bar located within Githongo market before he met his death while walking home.
“Residents going to deliver milk at 6am on Thursday morning discovered the body and reported to the Provincial administration. He had no physical injuries and nothing had been stolen from him,” said the OCPD.
Githungo said the deceased may have succumbed to liquor after falling at the roadside due to drunkardness noting the possibility of murder is minimal.
He said investigations to establish the cause of death have been launched and urged the public to forward any information they have over the incident to the police to enable them take appropriate action.
“The body was removed to Meru Level 5 hospital mortuary for postmortem analysis. Unfortunately, no witness has given any information over the incident to enable us establish the cause of death,” noted the OCPD.
