Kisumu Central parliamentary seat aspirant Ken Nyagudi has expressed fear for his life even as the campaigns heat up.
Nyagudi claimed his life was in danger after being trailed by an unknown car that had mysterious occupants on several occasions.
He said the first incident happened last week when the vehicle trailed him after a rally held at Nyalenda estate.
Upon inquiry, the vehicle’s occupants told him that they had been sent to check on his movements before speeding off.
The vehicle later trailed him to another meeting at Kibuye.
Addressing a press conference, Nyagudi revealed that his personal assistant has also received threats over his life and was last week assaulted by supporters of a certain candidate gunning for the same seat before being food poisoned.
The personal assistant was rushed to Aga Khan Hospital for medication and is now in stable condition.
Apart from being trailed, he said he has also been receiving several threatening calls over the past one week.
Nyagudi pointed out that rowdy youths have been storming his campaign meetings and causing fear and panic among his supporters, but reiterated that he will not be cowed down or intimidated to back off from the Kisumu Central race.
He called on the electorate to be vigilant as the campaigns hit crescendo and report people with ill motives.
He further urged the youth to shun violence and avoid being used by power - hungry politicians.
The aspirant has recorded a statement at the Central Police Station and is awaiting for the outcome of police investigations
