The race for Nakuru County governorship has taken a whole new dimension after Naivasha Member of Parliament John Mututho threw in the towel for governor post opting now to vie for Senate post.
Mututho, who had declared early this year that he was going to be contesting for the high post in the County, said that he opted to go for senate position because he believes he will be in a good position to serve the Nakuru County residents as a Senator.
With Mututho out of the race for the governor post, political analysts in the town are now betting it will be a two horse race for the governor post between the current Member of Parliament for Nakuru town Lee Kinyanjui and the former AP Commandant Kinuthia Mbugua.
At the same time the Nakuru County senate seat has taken a new twist with the new entry of Mututho who will now be facing off with his long arch rival in politics Jane Kihara from Naivasha who is also eyeing the same post under NARC Kenya party.
Other contenders for the Senate post are Madaraka Mwithaga, Ziporah Kimani, Koigi wa Wamwere and the businessman mogul Sam Ole Nairoshi.
