Muturi blocking debate on Waiguru Impeachment, claims MP

Nairobi - A member of parliament has claimed that speaker of national assembly Justine Muturi is trying to block the impeachment motion against devolution cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru from being presented on the floor of the house.
Kuresoi south MP Zakayo Cheruiyot who supports the motion said that Muturi is being used by powerful forces within government to block the motion and influence its outcome.
Speaking Wednesday in Nakuru town, Cheruiyot said that Muturi has been frustrating efforts by Nandi hills Mp Alfred Keter to present the motion to his office.
“The motion is ready for debate but the speaker’s office and the office of majority leader have been frustrating efforts to have it put on the house order paper for debate. Senior officials trying to protect Waiguru are using Muturi to kill the motion even before it makes it way to the floor of the house,” said Cheruiyot.
He added that supporters of Waiguru’s impeachment motion will soldier on with their move to have the CS removed from office for what he termed as grand corruption at the National Youth Service NYS.
Cheruiyot claimed that majority of members of parliament from the United Republican Party URP are secretly supporting the move and said that it will be revealed when the vote on the motion is taken.
“I can boldly tell you that URP is fully in support of this motion and things will unfold soon,” he said.
Waiguru has refused to step aside from office despite the theft of KES 791 million in the NYS, which is under her watch.
