Nairobi - Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has banned Gor Mahia from playing in Machakos over damage caused by club fans in the town over the weekend.
Mutua made the announcement Monday after witnessing Gor fans cause damage worth millions of shillings in the town in the aftermath of their 3-2 loss to Sofapaka in the Kenyan Premier League on Sunday.
He also said that he has billed Gor KES 10 million over the damage caused.
Gor fans burnt a vehicle, motor bikes and damaged shops around the stadium after the game, an act that Mutua termed unacceptable and one that he will not allow to happen again in his jurisdiction.
" It is unacceptable for such to happen and we will not condone it. For now we have banned Gor Mahia. They are a good club but the conduct of their fans is not acceptable," he said.

Gor on their part have said that the police are to blame for the violence.
" The police are to blame for inciting fans. We all know it is a heated game so why do they have to use teargas to handle the fans knowing they are easily poked, Assistant Secretary Ronald Ngala said.
The Football Kenya Federation said it would offer sanctions to the club Tuesday.
" Such behaviour cannot be condoned and must be adressed in no uncertain terms, chairman Sam Nyamweya said.
Gor are a point ahead of Sofapaka in the KPL title race and will be champions if they win their remaining two matches.
