Nyeri - Residents of Balozi Estate in Nyeri town are in shock after a mutilated body of a woman was found hidden in a thicket Tuesday noon.
The woman was brutally murdered in cold blood Monday night and was discovered by area residents. There were also signs that the woman had been tortured before her death including assault with crude blunt objects.
The unidentified body had head and back injuries. Seemingly, the assailants were attempting all ways and channels of leaving the woman dead.
It had some burn injuries at the back and neck and was also strangled with a piece of cloth around the neck.
More signs indicated that she was murdered on the roadside before the body was dragged into the thicket just a few meters away, leaving behind her shoes.
Residents who flocked the scene said they did not hear any distress call, suspecting that the assailants could be well known to the deceased.
Murder cases have increased in the recent past in Nyeri County with the recent case being the case of two night guards of different schools who were killed last week.
