Mutilated body of a woman found dumped in Kaimosi forest

24 July 2014, 23:43 Dareel Eric

Vihiga - A mutilated body of a middle-aged woman was Tuesday morning found dumped in Kaimosi forest, Hamisi constituency, Vihiga County.

The body had serious injuries inflicted by crude weapons, some of which were found at the scene.

Until Tuesday, the body had not been identified as there were no supporting documents on her indicating her age or name, and no one had come out to report.

According to the Mulundu sub-location assistant chief Pius Konzalo, the woman could have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped in the forest.

“The body had serious injuries and deep cuts that we suspect were inflicted using a panga. The scene does not indicate that there was some tussle, which points out that she might have been killed elsewhere and only her body dumped in the forest,” the assistant chief said.

A panga and a knife were found where the body had been dumped soiled with blood, which indicated that they had been used to kill her.

The body was taken to Vihiga Hospital Mortuary in Mbale awaiting identification and post-mortem.

The chief called on the residents to be alert and curb the levels of crime in the region which had started re-surfacing.
