Muthama in hot water, Tobiko says
05 October 2015, 16:19
Nairobi - The Director of Public Prosecutions DPP Keriako Tobiko says that Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has committed hate speech and must be arrested.
The DPP said Monday that there had been enough evidence provided to charge Muthama for hate speech after the Senator insinuated in a rally at Nairobi's Uhuru Park that Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is President Uhuru Kenyatta's girlfriend.
Muthama has so far denied that he meant the utterances in that manner.
He has so far recorded statements over the matter with the Criminal Investigations Department CID.
Muthama has said he will take the case head on.
" The matter will be forwarded to the Police to seek a way forward over the matter," Tobiko's office said Monday.
Opposition leaders have however stated that they are unhappy with the move since similar cases affecting leaders from the Jubilee coalition have yet to be prosecuted for similar cases.
