Muthama, Kuria bad omen to Kenya's politics, says MP

28 September 2015, 12:22 Jackson Okata

Nakuru - Nakuru County women representative, Mary Mbugua has said that Gatundu MP, Moses Kuria and Machakos Senator, Jonhstone Muthama are a 'bad omen' to Kenyan politics.

Mbugua said that the two leaders have highly lethal tongues that can cause mayhem in the country.

Speaking Sunday in Njoro constituency at a function attended by House Speaker Justin Muturi, Mbugua said that MPs and the Senate should come together and censure both Kuria and Muthama.

She said that the inciting remarks made by Kuria and Muthama should not be addressed as a party issue but as a national issue where all leaders should condemn them regardless of their party affiliations.

"Am not afraid to say this that Hon. Kuria and Senator Muthama are a bad omen to Kenyan politics because of their loose and lethal tongues. It is sad because when Kuria incites people, we in Jubilee comes out to defend him and when Muthama incites people, CORD strongly defends him and that even makes the situation worse," said Mbugua.

"As leaders, we must speak with one voice and condem Kuria and Muthama if we truly care about our nation and its future and those of us who have suffered the effects of tribal conflicts must be at the forefront to condem such leaders," she said.

She called on politicians to tone down on their political rhetoric as the country nears 2017 as one way of preserving the peace being enjoyed in the country.

At the same time, Mbugua called on the national cohesion and integration commission to walk its talk.
