Muslims pray for rain, condemn resident's evil ways

17 March 2015, 22:51 Godfrey Olukya

Kampala - Muslims in Ugandan have cried out to Allah asking him to forgive citizens all the bad deeds they have committed and let the rains fall.

Most parts of Uganda are experiencing severe drought.

In the duwa prayers held at Kibuli mosque in the city centre, the Kampala district Khadhi, Sheik Suleiman Kasule Ndilangwa attributed the current change in weather patterns that have seen the country experience very long dry spells to the evil that human beings are doing against God’s wish.

Sheikh Suleiman who led the prayers urged all believers to repent for such hash conditions to be reversed.

He also noted that even in the very early days of Prophet Muhammed, believers used to pray for rains to fall and challenged all believers to always take the same route.

He prayed, ''We pray to you God that you give us rain. Do not deny us rain because of evils done by Ugandans like corruption, adultery, theft, abortions and lying. We are your servants, please give us rain.''

With the long dry spells the country is experiencing, people in most parts of the country are suffering to get water, with a jerrycan going for over UGX 2 000 in most parts.

Plants have withered, wells and springs dried up as well making it difficult for people to feed, farm and conduct other activities.

Although weather experts revealed that rains will start falling mid this month, no rains have fallen yet.
