Musician scolds Kibera residents over violence
23 June 2015, 16:40
Nairobi - Musician and presenter Davidson Ngibuini, better known as
DnG has this morning taken a minute to scold the residents of the Kibera Slums
here in Nairobi.
This comes after the youth from the area burnt down toilets,
clinics and police posts that were constructed by National Youth Service as
part of a Slum Upgrade project.
The youth from the area were allegedly incited
by their local politicians to raze the structures to the ground, in a show of
defiance towards the current government and its leadership.
The post hit out at these youth who were being used as pawns
to destroy amenities that were placed there to help them.
The post read, "My
Fellow Youth, I was with you in ?#Kibera launching the Slum Upgrade Projects
with NYS. All our elected National Leaders & Nairobi County Officials were
present till late at night affirming you that these projects would be
completed. Now, you listen to selfish politicians and burn the same structures
(toilets, clinics, police posts) that were put up to help YOU??? For what? So
that some may flex their muscles? So that some may spit on the Highest Office?
Sawa. Alafu? Tena mtaomba serikali isaidie? (That’s okay, so now what? Are you
going to ask the government for help again?) Politics will be the end of you," he stated.
He continued," It is you who suffers. You think political gods care? You think they feel a
pinch? You think they are affected? Not in the least. Kula mia mbili yako leo
na kesho umesota. Wewe ndiye utakayeteseka. (Eat your KES 200 today then be
broke tomorrow. You are the ones who will suffer), ?” a clearly angered DnG said.
The violence has since ceased in the slum but Kenyans have taken their time on social media to castigate the Kibera youth.
