Former Minister for National Security Chris Murungaru will continue keeping off the national and regional politics after his senatorial bid hit a snag.
He was running for Nyeri county senate seat in a race that ranked him third from winner after garnering a total of 39 909 votes.
Victory went to his counterpart the former Minister for Information and Mukurwe-ini MP Mutahi Kagwe who got 175 947 votes.
Immediate former Mathira MP Ephraim Maina got 106 559 votes. Maina who was the chairman of central Kenya legislators in the last August House was using his three helicopters to campaign across the county.
Notwithstanding that he was on a TNA party ticket and Nyeri was Uhuru’s stronghold, Maina lost to the Narc candidate who was running on a very unpopular party in the region.
Kagwe said he will fulfill the pledges he made during his campaigns and also work towards making the county and country a better place.
He called for unity in the region.
