Nairobi - Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen has denied media reports that he was wooing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to defend Deputy President William Ruto at the ICC.
Murkomen, who is Ruto’s close ally, rubbished the reports terming them as gossip.
It is alleged that Ruto sent the Senator to the ex-prime minister asking him to testify against the prosecution at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in regard to the ongoing criminal case against him.
Ruto is facing charges of crimes against humanity alongside ex-journalist Joshua Sang.
It is further claimed that Raila would be a key witness in Ruto’s case given that he is the chief of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party, which was Ruto's party during the 2007 elections that ended in violence.

However, Murkomen responded by saying that he has never been sent to the opposition leader nor consulted him on matters of the ICC.
“Report facts not gossip. At no point did the DP sent me to the former PM, neither did I consult him on matters ICC,” said the lawmaker in his social media accounts while dismissing reports published by a local daily.
He however urged Raila to stand with Ruto in the case because it was the right thing to do.
“I strongly believe however that the former PM should stand by his former generals and the truth because it's the right thing to do,” added Murkomen.
