Murder suspect arrested under pastor’s bed

Nairobi - A murder suspect who had escaped from Murang’a police station cells has been arrested again hiding under the bed in a pastor’s house in Maragua.
The 20-year-old, Norman Githae who had been held in police cells awaiting investigations on his murder case is said to have scaled up the cells’ wall and escaped unnoticed.
The officer commanding Murang’a police division, Johnstone Limo said that the escapee was Monday evening found at Gatheru area in Maragua where he was hiding in a pastor’s house.
The officer said that villagers alerted the administration leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The pastor under whose bed the suspect was found hiding was also arrested and will be arraigned in court for aiding a suspect to escape from lawful custody.
Githae had been charged for murdering an eight-year-old pupil in Gitige area of Kahuro Sub-County after allegedly sodomizing him.
The OCPD said that the suspect is a known criminal.
