Munya named new Council of Governors chairman

Nairobi - Meru Governor Peter Munya has been elected the new chairman of the Council of Governors.
Munya was elected Thursday by his peers in election of new leaders to take charge of the Governors caucus, held in Nairobi.
Munya replaces Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, who finished his two year term.
Salim Mvurya, the former Vice Chairman has retained his position, while Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has been named the Chief Whip.
Munya said that he would continue the fight started by Ruto t give Counties more funding, even if it means pushing forward the Pesa Mashinani referendum.
" We need more money to develop our Counties and I will continue to fight for that through the available avenues, including the Pesa Mashinani referendum," he said after being elected.
