Nakuru - Police in Nakuru have arrested a 30-year-old man after he was caught having sexual intercourse with a minor who had been reported as missing for a whole week.
Langa Langa area chief Gerald Ng’ang’a, while addressing the media said he received information from the minor’s mother that the suspect had been cohabiting with her daughter for an unknown period of time.
“The suspect took it to himself to marry the minor contrary to Kenya’s Constitution. As the government, we shall take stern action against the culprit,” said Ng’ang’a.
Ng’ang’a further hinted that the suspect claimed that he was the lover of the minor’s mother, claims the child’s mother denied, adding that prior to the minor’s disappearance from their home in Manyani Estate, she had marks on her body suspected to have been incurred from her mother battering her.

“Parents need to be careful when handling their children so as to prevent children from taking such steps owing to desperation,” pleaded the chief.
The minor’s mother, Elizabeth Mwikali said the suspect, Denis Ouma has been their close and trusted family friend.
“My daughter went missing a week ago and I used to constantly ask the suspect where my daughter was but he denied having seen her. It has come as a surprise that a trusted family friend can elope with the minor,” she said.
She said her 15-year-old daughter schools at a local secondary school.
Ouma in his defense said that he met with the minor several times and persuaded her to go back home but she refused saying she was afraid of her mother.
The minor said that she had ran away from home for fear of her mother who assaulted her constantly and even vowed to kill her.
The suspect was taken to Nakuru Central Police station waiting for investigation to commence.
