Mum shot dead two days before son's funeral

Nyeri - Police in Nyeri have launched investigations into the murder of a 65-year-old woman who was shot dead Wednesday night by unknown people at her home in Nyaribo location, Nyeri central sub-county.
While confirming the incident, area Deputy County Commissioner John Marete said the deceased, Wanjiru Kiboi was shot three times at a close range.
He reported that three masked men ambushed the home around 9pm and shot dead the woman before fleeing on a motorbike.
The murder happened at a time when the woman was mourning death of her son who committed suicide last Friday at Nyaribo shopping centre.

Her son was to be buried on Friday.
“The incidence took place yesterday at 9.20 pm in her house while she was with 10 other mourners who had gone to assist with funeral arrangements for her son who had committed suicide near Nyaribo market,” said the administrator.
He added that police officers, accompanied by sub-County security team, visited the scene and investigations have commenced though no arrests have been made yet.
The body of the woman was taken to Nyeri PGH hospital.
