Nyeri - Mother to Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando was over the weekend laid to rest at her home in the constituency, at Ngamwa village Nyeri county.
The deceased Rose Wachera Kariuki, 69 was allegedly hacked to death by her youngest son, Ceasar Thiari Kariuki last week, an incident that left the entire village in shock and somber mood.
Most speakers described her as a humble woman admired by many, both young and old across the village.
“She was not at any point overwhelmed by her sons’ wealth. She was travelling with public transport vehicles. At the marketplace you could not imagine she was area MP’s mother because of her humbleness,” said Mary Njeri, a villager.
She said the mode at which Wachera met her death was disgusting considering that she was allegedly eliminated by her son.
She observed that Thiari been the youngest in a family of six children was the most loved son.
“We do not know and we may never know why so much love can lead to so much singular evil. But we know that Wa Kariuiki (Kabando’s mother) was very tolerant, accommodating and forgiving,” she added.
The suspect is currently held at police custody awaiting court trial.
