31 July 2012, 15:41
Muhoroni Member of Parliament, Prof. Ayiecho Olweny has said that his development record speaks for itself and dared those seeking to challenge him for the seat to campaign on ideologies other than personal vendetta.
Prof. Olweny who toured various CDF projects in Chemelil yesterday said the interest of his constituents should be given priority as opposed to narrow and selfish political interests.
Accompanied by Nyando County Council Chairman, Sam Ong’ou the legislator cautioned Muhoroni voters against political opportunists who usually hit the ground running yet they have not been able to initiate any meaningful development projects.
The MP expressed concern over persistence by some local leaders to continue filing court cases one after another, despite the fact that both the lower and High courts have in the past dismissed their quest to have Muhoroni District headquarters relocated from Chemelil.
“We cannot continue getting bogged down by a few people whose political star dimmed along time ago but are keen to undermine us in the hope of gaining unnecessary mileage as we approach the 2013 General Elections”, Prof. Olweny stated.
He said that some of the leaders failed to even build a nursery school but were now busy reinventing themselves in the hope that voters could give them another chance even after they failed to deliver during their tenure.
Prof. Olweny commended the area District Commissioner, Solomon Abwaku and his security team for their consistent efforts that has tremendously checked cattle rustling which has in the past been a major cause for conflict between the Luo and Kalenjin neighbors.
