Mudavadi's close allies accused of tribalising party

Vihiga - Sacked United Democratic Front party (UDF) officials in Vihiga County are accusing leaders close to the party leader Musalia Mudavadi of personalising the party and making it tribal.
The former party treasurer June Omombo, whom they said had defected to another party said that she had never defected from UDF, and that her sacking was tribally instigated.
"If one defects from a political party, there are several procedures that they use. I have never defected from UDF, and my sacking is unlawful and tribally motivated by people close to Mudavadi who have personalised the party," Omombo said.
In a statement that was circulated to journalists via mail from Mudavadi’s personal secretary and spokesman Kibisu Kabatesi, the entire UDF officials from Vihiga branch had been sacked for various transgressions.
This has elicited outrage from the recluse officials who say that they were never consulted nor involved as the party’s National Executive Council sealed their fate, and that they have not received official communication.
“If UDF party carries a national outlook and represents the views of all Kenyans, why did several members sit somewhere to decide for the officials who have been serving the party for many months now without having even informed them?” Omombo said.
Branch secretary and nominated MCA, Nathan Kamidi, who was said to be the hardest hit by a nomination recall petition, was not even aware of his sacking.
“I am not aware that I have been sacked. I just read it in papers,” Kamidi said.
The nomination recall petition against Kamidi cites gross violation of the political parties Act, UDF constitution, and indiscipline by making disparaging statements about the party and its leadership at all manner, particularly by speaking to the media often.
The purported NEC meeting was chaired by party chairman Aden Hassan and attended by party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Those replaced include former chairman Julius Agida for gross negligence of party affairs and for being a public official, and Organising Secretary Isaiah Amuko and Treasurer June Omombo for defecting to other parties.
