Nairobi - Musalia Mudavadi has quit the United Democratic Front UDF party with immediate effect, the former Vice President has said.
His resignation took effect June 3, 2015.
Mudavadi, also a former Member of Parliament as well as Deputy Prime Minister has quit the party in-order to concentrate on his newly formed Amani National Congress ANC party.
" I kindly thank you for having allowed me to be a member of your party. I wish the party well in its future endeavours," stated Mudavadi in his resignation letter.
The embattled Mudavadi said he made the decision in order to focus his energies in building ANC into a formidable political movement for Kenyans and also confirmed he would run for the presidency on an ANC ticket in 2017, after broad consultations with the broader Amani family of MCAs, MPs and supporters.
" The party will soon start registering members in readiness for 2017 General Election and Mudavadi is now the Party Leader of ANC and calls on supporters to prepare for membership registration exercise to be rolled out soon in preparation for ANC launch by the end of the year," he added.
Mudavadi settled on forming and joining the ANC after falling out with his former party UDF last year over a number of buring issues including party ownership.
