Controversy now looms between the legislature and executive after Mps demanded the roles of the two DPMs be defined. This came a day after the president refuse to sign the contentious Statute Law Miscellaneous (amendment) Bill.
It all started during the Prime Minister's time in the house but he was not yet in. Garsen MP Danson Mungatana and nominated MP Millie Odhiambo-Mabona sought for clarification on their duties. She also added that holding an office without any function is robbery to the people of Kenya.
The duo had resigned from their ministerial posts under different conditions. DPM Uhuru Kenyatta vacated his finance docket after case was confirmed at the ICC whereas his colleague DPM Musalia Mudavadi abandoned his duty as the minister for local government after falling out with his boss in ODM and ditched the party for UDF. However, they both clung on DPM post claiming it was created by the National Accord.
Prime Minister Raila Odinga arrived on time to save the situation. But again he also admited that their political difference has been sabotaging their cordial operation in the house. The big question is however whether their roles will be outlined and made clear to the public.
