Mother of three killed by lover over child’s paternity

Nyeri - A 45-year-old woman has been found murdered by her alleged suitor at Rwathe village in Othaya, Nyeri County.
The deceased, Priscilla Wairima was killed inside her rental room by her alleged lover who also locked up her three-months-old baby girl inside a laundry box.
According to residents, Wairima’s body had a rope tied around her neck and deep panga cuts on her face.
The alleged suitor and suspected assailant, 34-year-old Samuel Kiboi lived in the same block of rental rooms and also worked with the deceased as casual labourers at the nearby Nyayo Tea Zones farm in Othaya.
Kiboi is said to have had issues with the mother of three after she gave birth three months ago to a baby whose paternity he questioned.
A resident, Magdaline Thoome said Wairima had planned to relocate from her house following threats from the suspect.

Another resident, Zipporah Wanjiru said that police officers more than three hours to respond to their distress call, claiming they could not access the scene since their official vehicle had run out of fuel the previous day.
However, Nyeri South OCPD, Joseph Mwika denied the allegations saying that all police vehicles are fueled on daily basis and always ready to respond to emergencies.
Mwika said that he learnt about the incidence after 6.00am from Deputy OCS at Munyange police station where the crime was first reported.
The police Boss said that they have launched a manhunt in order to arrest the suspect who is still on the run.
Police took the body of the woman to Mukurweini district hospital mortuary as investigations into the murder commenced.
