Mombasa - Police in Mombasa are yet to arrest the owner of a bar in Likoni, where four people were killed by poisoned brew last week.
National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has established that the killer brew was poisoned with methanol.
They said after examination by the government chemistry, it was established that the brew, Meakins Vodca contained poisonous methanol and had also been counterfeited by unscrupulous network of illegal businessmen in the region.
NACADA Coast branch field officer, Salat Boru warned the locals to be on high alert over the circulating poisoned spirits.
“From the way it’s happening, it shows there is unscrupulous network of illegal business men conducting this business,” warned Boru, who spoke on the sidelines of a sensitisation forum at Likoni.
He said NACADA will embark on a sensitisation program to enlighten the locals on the genuine alcoholic drinks within the area.
