Mombasa NGOs to be investigated for inciting youth

Mombasa - Mombasa county commissioner, Nelson Marwa has said that state security agents are investigating some Kenyan NGOs over incitement allegations.
In a meeting convened on Tuesday by security chiefs at Police headquarters of the region, Marwa said radicalization among the youth is perpetuated by some individuals who fund the exercise.
The county commissioner said that some leaders in the lobby groups are funding some youth to join terror groups making it difficult for the government to fight terrorism.
"We are aware that some NGOs are inciting the youth. They are misusing the funds they receive from donors. The government is aware and will soon take action against them," said Marwa.
Marwa added that some leaders of the lobby groups will be arrested over incitement, and charged in court.
He warned that some pretend to promote peace during the day yet they involve themselves in criminal activities during the night.
The move comes barely a week after some lobby groups in the coast wanted the police to investigate and arrest the attackers of a Muslim teacher and preacher, Sheikh Ali Bahero.
Bahero, who was discharged from the hospital on Monday, is suspected to have been assaulted by radicalized Muslim youths from the controversial Masjid Musa, now Masjid Shuhada.
