Mombasa County steps up garbage collection plan

Mombasa - Trucks have been placed on 15 dumping sites in Mombasa in a bid to regulate garbage disposal in the city.
The move is aimed at cutting down the money spent on employing garbage collectors that has been on the high end for the city's county government.
,Addressing the media in Mombasa, the county's executive for finance, Walid Khalid said the county is trying its level best to cut down the expenditures in order to save public funds for better plans.
He said the trucks were donated by well wishers from the county and that the activity had nothing political or a hidden agenda at all but pure charity to the Mombasa county.
Mombasa town has recorded a bigger percentage in its sanitation with at least 80% of its garbage having been collected successfully and disposed at a one sited zone in Magongo.
Road reserves all over town have been cleaned and flowers have been planted to make the town clean and beautiful.
