Nairobi - Former President Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi has turned 91.
Moi was President of Kenya for 24 years and Vice President another three years.
He took over following the death of Kenya's founding President Jomo Kenyatta.
He left office in 2002.
His birthday was celebrated by several leaders, including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
" I wish the President a happy birthday and continued good health," he said.
Moi's son Gideon was also happy to celebrate his father's birthday.
" Happy birthday to a man of substance," he stated.
During Moi's tenure, Kenya managed to shift from a single party state to multi party-ism.
