Nairobi - Former Provincial Commissioner Zachary Ogongo has died of cancer.
Ogongo, who served in former president Daniel Moi's regime as a PC as well as Permanent Secretary passed on in Nairobi Saturday after complications linked with the disease.

Ogongo was in his pomp a shrewd public servant who served the then regime with vigour and respect.
He was also known as a good listener and an ever reliable person.
During his tenure in the public service, he was posted as PS for Health, Local Government and Lands, having also served at all levels of provincial administration, from the District Officer to his eventual position as a PC.
He was a member of the Orange Democratic Movement after retirement, and tried without success to contest for the position of Nyamira County Governor in the 2013 General Elections.
