Vihiga - A suspected robber was yesterday evening lynched by an angry mob at Ebusakami junction in Emuhaya constituency, Vihiga County.
The middle aged man was nabbed by the angry mob which didn’t give him any chance to explain anything as he was immediately set ablaze.
While confirming the incident, Emabungo assistant chief Boaz Wanga said that the suspect, identified as John Owacho was among the gang that attacked bod boda operators in the past and injured one of them before running away with one motorcycle.
“An angry mob arrested the man and beat him thoroughly before lynching him as he was suspected to be among a group that used to terrorise the boda boda operators in Luanda town a while back,” he said.
The chief said that the group of robbers had become notorious in the region in the past, when they attacked a boda boda youth and killed him before running away when members of the public launched a search for them.
The chief asked the residents to take the arrested individuals to the police so that proper channels can be used to punish them.
The body was taken to Nyanza Hospital in Kisumu.
