The body of a young man who disappeared three days ago at Nyang'oma location in Muhoroni District was Sunday evening retrieved from a nearby pond, a few meters from his home.
The body of Dalmas Sidete was found naked hence raising eyebrows on the nature of his death.
A local resident who was among the first people to arrive at the scene Michael Sidigu said that the family of Sidete hastily collected the body and took it home to await the burial.
However, Sidigu expressed concern over the issue asking why the family members were keen to dispose the body before filing a report with the police to facilitate a postmortem and establish the cause of the death.
Area residents are now appealing to the police in Nyando to move swiftly and investigate the incident, arguing that someone could be out to cover up the cause of death.
Contacted for comment, Muhoroni OCPD Muthuri Mwongera was apparently not informed about the incident but promised to dig into the mysterious death.
Mwongera promised to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure the law is followed before the burial is conducted.
