20 August 2015, 18:24 William Korir

Nairobi - Police have announced that a victim of the  Garissa University attack was buried by a wrong family.

Risper Kayoka was yet to be buried by her family close to five months after the attack in April which saw 148 people killed by Al Shabaab  militants.

Her body had not been identified as yet and one which is still at the Chiromo Mortuary was not hers, puzzling both mortuary officials and

However, the Criminal Investigation Department CID has now announced that the body was mixed up and sent to a different family in Kitui.

" We have finally cracked it. The two victims had similar names and their bodies were thus mixed up. We have alredy ordered for exhumation  to determine the truth," CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro told News24.

" The family of the late Risper has undergone sleepless nights to this day and we do hope that this will be the end of the story and allow them bury her," he added.

The story of Risper's family had forced a debate in Parliament in May, with MPs saying that an end to the saga must be seen in three  months to help the family move on from the debacle.
