Minors at risk of HIV infections in Mombasa County

Mombasa - Its has been identified that school going children between the age of 5 and 15 are at risk of being infected with HIV for being victims of discrimination from the communities in Mombasa county says a report by National Aid control council, (NACC).
Speaking to the press in Mombasa minister of health in Mombasa county Binty Omar said most students in the age group lack knowledge on how the decease is spread due to negligence and lack of knowledge in the community.
“Innocent children are infected with HIV because they lack knowledge and the high rate of ignorance from our community” said Binty
Binty said that majority of those infected is not at birth, yet information is available in all health facilities and learning institution.
She added that her ministry is rolling out a plan that will ensure that all schools in Mombasa County will adequate information on HIV infection to help curb this spread.
Head of technical support at Nacc Francis Muu has said the organization has embarked on a process of eradicating stigmatization among young children and ensure that they recieve medical support at their schools.
