Minor charged with defilement

27 March 2015, 09:37 Steven Njugunah

Nyahururu - A 16-year-old boy was Thursday charged in a Nyahururu court for defiling a 12-year-old girl.

Sammy Lomolo pleaded not guilty to the charges before Resident Magistrate Victoria Ochanda and was released on KES 300 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

It is alleged that Lomolo committed the offence on March 12, 2015 at Mutamaiyo village in Laikipia County.

He was also faced with an alternative charge of touching the girl’s private parts before committing the offence without her consent.

The case will be heard on July 7 with a mention on April 9, 2015.

In the same court, Cornelius Cermanen denied defiling a 15-year-old girl and was released on KES 300 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.

The middle-aged man was charged that on March 20, 2015 at Thome village in Laikipia County he defiled the minor.

He was faced with an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child.

The court heard that the accused lured the minor into his house with sweets and was caught by a neighbour who reported the case to the girl’s parents.

He was arrested by police officers from Sipili police station after the girl’s parents reported the matter to them. The case will be heard on June 15, with a mention on April 9, 2015.

The two accused persons could not raise the bond immediately and were remanded at the Nyahururu GK prison.
