Vihiga - Vihiga Governor, Moses Akaranga has warned his ministers that he will sack them if they do not perform to the expectations of the residents.
Akaranga said that any minister who will receive a vote of no confidence from the people will be forced to be sacked so that a competent person can replace them and perform.
“It is very unfortunate that my ministers are working in a period where the people’s voice cannot be ignored by their leaders, as the new constitution allows the people to have the sovereign power. So, my ministers will have to perform or face the sack by the people,” he said.
The governor spoke Saturday in a funeral at Cheptulu in Hamisi constituency, where there was a public outcry that the ministers who had been appointed for various ministries in the County were sleeping on the job.
The residents accused the ministers of a lackluster performance in the last few months they have been in office and always following the governor to every event instead of sitting in their own offices to serve the people.
Akaranga, who has always insisted on subjecting the County workers to performance contracting, asked the ministers to start practicing professionalism in their work and working independently.
“I want my ministers to have the freedom to make their own decisions because they know what they are doing,” he said.
He further explained that after releasing the names of those appointed to the positions in the County and asked the residents to utilise the appointees well.
