Migori County govt to construct stadium

Migori - The County Government of is to construct a stadium worth KES 40 million in the town.
The project was launched by the sports, youth and cultural executive committee member, Thomas Maneno and will take 12 months to complete.
Briefing the press after officially launching the phase one of the contract, Mr. Maneno said KES 25 million will be spent on the construction of a perimeter wall and other infrastructural facilities at the site.
He said a further KES 5 million will be used in leveling the pitch to hold various types of sports, including a football, volley ball and netball.
The last phase which is expected to gobble KES 10 million will see the erection of the main pavilion, a gymnasium and a restaurant among other important sporting facilities.
The work has been awarded to a Nairobi based Company, Logistic Civil Engineers.
“At the end of the whole work, we expect to see a modern stadium that meets the standards required to hold national and international sports activities,” said Mr. Maneno.
The official said the County also plans to construct two other modern stadiums in different towns within the County in the next few years in an effort to promote sporting activities and boost its revenue income.
Maneno appealed to the local people to support the local leadership in its efforts to help increase modern sporting facilities and tap the idle talents in young people in the area.
