A Meru man who works as a casual labourer in Othaya has stabbed a colleague to death.
The two had picked a quarrel in a local bar at Chinga area of Nyeri County on Thursday night when the irked suspect rushed home and returned with a dagger.
He stabbed to death a 35-year-old John Mugendi on the stomach who died on the spot after all his intestines spilled over on the ground.
Shocked residents found the man lying in a pool of blood during the 7.30 pm incident.
Nyeri South Police boss Adiel Nyange said the suspect Patrick Njeru, 45 later escaped but was arrested few kilometers away at Kiria-ini Township by police while trying to board a matatu.
Police also recovered the murder weapon at a local farm after the suspect showed them where he had hidden it.
He is now being held at Othaya Police Station and will be charged with murder. The two works at local tea farms.
The body was removed to Mukurwe- ini District Hospital mortuary for postmortem. The motive of killing was not immediately established.
