Assistant Director of National Council Population Development in the Rift Valley Pricilla Lasoi has said the media has an active role in sensitizing the public about the family planning methods and Femi plan.
Speaking on Wednesday morning during a meeting forum with journalist from Nakuru, Lasio said there was a need for Kenyans to learn new methods of family planning adding that it will assist the government during the budgeting process.
“Media have a crucial role to play in sensitizing the public about the Femi plan because it will go a long way in helping the government during the budget process” said Lasoi.
She further said the population of Kenya was growing at a rapid speed saying it could be an issue in a near future should the media and the government relaxes in playing their part in controlling the population.
“Growth of Kenya's population is at a 3% growth per year which is quite alarming and that’s why the media comes in to place by create awareness for the public” said Lasoi.
Lasoi at the same time pointed out that the government needs to lay some structures in which are to be followed in terms of controlling the population growth.
