Mazrui finally laid to rest

Mombasa - Thousands of mourners including senior government figures on Sunday morning flocked the Mazrui's graveyard at Old Town Mombasa to bid last farewell to the late author, professor Ali Mazrui as he was laid to rest.
Chief Justice Willy Mutunga, Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho, Senator Hassan Omar and County Commissioner Nelson Marwa among other MPs were among key government leaders who turned up for the burial.
At around 2.00am on Sunday, the scholar’s body arrived at the Mombasa International airport aboard a Turkish airline from New York.
Security was tight before during and after the body arrived at the airport in Mombasa, and during the burial.

Prof. Alamin Mazrui, the renowned scholar’s nephew, his widow Pauline Uti, his sons Farid and Harith Mazrui, his colleagues at State University of New York Binghamton, Dr Betty Wambui, Dr Seifudein Adem and Ricardo Laremont accompanied the body.
The leaders praised the scholar saying his death has brought loss to the entire nation. They said he will live to be remembered as a professional leader.
The renown scholar passed away at the United States on Monday last week at 81, after a long illness.
