Body found under a boat in the Ocean

13 February 2013, 12:33Alloys Musyoka

A family at Chonyi area in Kilifi district is mourning the death of their relative whose body was found in the Indian Ocean two days after he went missing on Sunday night while on duty.

The deceased body was found in the sea water 15 feet under a boat he was guarding before his death.

Kenya Wildlife Service officers and qualified swimmers in Watamu had tough time removing the body of the deceased which was stuck between rocks in the sea water.

It took them about three hours to retrieve the body and remove it from the water.

The 18 year old was working as a watchman for a certain security company before his death.

According to his relative, the man died while guarding a boat at the area under unclear circumstances.

"We still don't know how it happened because he was manning that boat and his body was found 15 feet beneath," explained the relative.

Area Chief Michael Kaingu Lenga said the mysterious death of the man is being investigated since they have not identified the cause of his death.

"The man lives in Watamu and is a resident of Chonyi in Kilifi who was working for a certain security company in Watamu so we are still trying to get into the matter and establish the cause and circumstances under which he died," said the chief.

He said the deceased might have been killed and his body dumped in the water but said investigations will reveal the truth.
