Mandera NOT Kenya!

Nairobi - The government has neglected Mandera, Governor Ali Roba says, after the latest attack on his life saw three people killed.
" Mandera is not in Kenya and we are not treated as Kenyans," an angered Roba said on phone after he survived a terror attack that saw three people killed Friday.
" You can see these things have happened all the time. They are not new. They are not things we do not know. It is highly disappointing that we are back at this place."
" They know about it but nothing has ever been done. Its like no one cares. That is the conclusion."
" I am very unhappy with what has happened but since this is not Kenya, what do I do? Who do I complain to," he added.
The three were among a convoy heading on a visit to areas of the county when the attack took place.
It is understood that close to 20 persons led the attack, with a rocket launcher used to blow up and torch some of the vehicles.
Roba was also attacked late last year via an explosive device and for Roba, the fact that these incidences are treated in a clandestine manner is what ticks him off.
" The repetition of these attacks is what makes us all unhappy. The government knows the danger is there but takes it time to do anything".
" Unless they take control, we will see more innocent Kenyans killed".
Late last year, over 60 people were killed by what was termed as Al Shabaab militants in Mandera, a matter which has caused teachers in the region not to report to work fearing their lives and Roba says that unless something is done, Mandera will be a no go zone.
" How can you tell them (teachers) to come back to Mandera if such cases are happening? Who will want to come?," he posed.
The government has yet to officially comment on the attacks.
