Man who injured police, stole their gun nabbed

Kwale - Police in Kinango have managed to arrest a suspected criminal who had injured two officers after they attempted to arrest him at his Mamandi home in Vigurungani, Kwale.
Mwaia Bora attacked the police with a machete and made away with an AK 47 belonging to one of the officer who was seriously injured during the incident.
Deputy County Commissioner, Moses Ivuto confirmed the incident and said the injured officers are recuperating well.
Speaking to the media in Kwale Thursday, Ivuto said that three officers raided the home of the suspect on Tuesday night when he attacked them.
“When the officers tried to arrest him, he came out with a machete which he used to attack them. One of the officers was cut cut on the hand leaving her with serious injuries after which the suspect stole her gun," said Ivuto.
He said the suspect was being tracked by security officials after he caused grievous harm to his wife Kwekwe Ndundu before he disappeared.
“We got information from members of public and mobilized officers to arrest him when the incident occurred," added Ivuto.
Although the suspect was shot twice by the officers during the confrontation, Ivuto noted that he disappeared into the thicket after snatching the firearm.
He said that police mobilized locals on Wednesday morning after the incident and traced the suspect to Tata area where he was hiding.
“After a long day search, the suspect was found at Mamandi area in Vigurungani at around 6:00pm in the evening on Wednesday after combing the area courtesy of Nyumba Kumi initiative,” said Ivuto.
Ivuto said that the suspect was taken to Kinango Police Station and is expected to show the officers where he has hidden the gun.
“That is a person with a criminal record and will be charged in court of law for what he has done,” added Ivuto.
He lauded members of public for using the Nyumba Kumi initiative which helped them to nab him within 24 hours after committing the offence.
