Man up as president, Uhuru told

Nairobi - Funyula MP Dr. Paul Otwoma has challenged President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop playing politics at this crucial time and instead execute his Commander in Chief role by dealing with the structures that support the Al-Shaabab terror group whether they are within Kenya or Somalia.
At the same time, the legislator charged that the president must be realistic and declare Garrisa a high level operation which must be cordoned off in a bid to clear out the infrastructure that support terror, failure to which the current problems will persist.
"When you carry out an operation, don't start talking like a politician, first of all command and let the politics come behind. Time for politicking and talking is not there, the buck stops with him and he should give commands, he should not just put on military uniforms for decorations and ceremonies, he must hit the ground and make sure he is in charge and the job is done," Otwoma stated.
He added "If Uhuru is going to be intimidated by the Duale's of this world who say that we should negotiate with terrorists, and fails to declare Garissa as a high level operation area, we will not move anywhere as a country.
Speaking to journalists in Nangina area of Funyula Constituency, the MP regretted that something has gone structurally wrong and that Kenya's security is compromused. He added that the security infrastructure is not going to be improved by the 'cosmetic changes and pronouncements' by the government, but instead those in-charge must get on the ground and work.
Terming Islam as a very peaceful religion, Ontwoma stated that criminals should not be allowed to hide behind religion in this war, making other people suffer.
" This war must be won, Ethiopia too has got troops in Somalia, how comes the country is not being bombed the way Kenya is being bombed today?" Otwoma wondered.
He observed," Aden Duale cannot negotiate on behalf of Kenyans when people are being killed just because he is a Muslim. This is not about Islam; it is about criminals where action should be taken. If he has pronounced that he knows the people, then he must be made to answer. We are instead glorifying this people and giving them positions of leadership. They will take over this country soon and Kenya will turn out to be a gangster country making terrorists look like a child play. Something is cropping up and we are not seeing.
Duale, the Garissa township MP and leader of majority in the National Assembly had earlier proposed that the government negotiate with the Shabaab in a bid to end the attacks on the country.
148 people were last week killed in an attack on the Garissa University College, instigated by the Somali based terror group.
