Nanyuki - A Nanyuki court has sentenced a 28-year-old man to death after he was found guilty of defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Morris Mutwiri was handed the sentence by Senior Resident Magistrate Evanson Bett who said the minor had identified the convict positively during trial.
It is alleged that on September 25, 2012 at Mia Moja village in Timau, Meru County, Mutwiri touched the minor’s private parts without consent and subsequently defiled her.
The court heard that the convict found the class-four pupil at their home alone and lured her with cakes and sweets to his house.
After committing the ordeal, court heard that he gave her KES 10 to purchase more sweets and warned her against disclosing the incident.

The minor’s mother in her evidence told the court that she disclosed what had happened to her after experiencing persistent pains while urinating.
She reported the matter at Timau police station and the minor was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
However, in defense, the convict told the court that he was shocked to see the police arresting him as he spent that day in his charcoal shed.
He said he was living in the same village with the minor’s family and that there was bad blood between him and the minor’s mother, claiming that the charges were framed.
