Man to be jailed for stealing free newspapers in Nairobi

Nairobi - A man is set to be jailed after admitting to stealing 24 copies of a free newspaper in Nairobi.
The man, a James Ngugi was charged for allegedly stealing the 24 papers from a vendor Wednesday along Nairobi's Haile Sellasie Avenue.
He stole the copies of the People Daily newspaper which are usually distributed free of charge to members of the public.
Ngugi admitted to the offence in-front of Nairobi magistrate Daniel Ogembo Thursday and will be sentenced Friday.
" I stole the newspapers your honour," he admitted.
The papers have a face value of KES 2,400 but are usually distributed for free by the owners, Mediamax LTD.
He will face charges of theft and handling stolen property which could land him in jail for as long as one year.
