Man tells court that he beat up his mother to discipline her

Nyahururu - A middle-aged man Monday told a Nyahururu court that he beat up his mother to punish her for renouncing him.
Peter Wambugu denied threatening to hack Gladys Mwangi who is her foster mother with a machete when he appeared before resident magistrate Willy J. Cheruiyot and was released on KES 20 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
He amused court when he said that he only caned Mwangi to instill discipline on her for saying she was only her foster mother but not his real mother.

The court heard that on August 13, 2015 at Kiwanja village in Nyandarua county, Wambugu returned home at around 8pm and after a conversation with Mwangi, the complainant told him that she was only his foster mother but not her real mother. He then picked a machete and chased her while threatening to hack her.
He was accosted by the neighbors who frog matched him to Nyahururu police station where he was charged with the offence.
The case will be heard on November 11 with a mention on September 3.
