Nairobi - A man has sued Deputy President William Ruto over the Weston Hotel land and wants him to disclose how he acquired the piece of land.
The man, an activist from Nairobi known as Martin Mureithi said Wednesday that it is in public interest for the manner in which the land was a acquired to be known.
He insists that according to records, the land belonged to the public and there is need to know how it ended up in private hands.
" It is important that the public knows how an important piece of public property was allowed to end up in private hands, " Mureithi said in his suit papers.
Ruto has claimed that the land on which the hotel lies was bought by he and his partners in a clean deal and that the evidence is there to prove so.
However, there has been evidence, yet to be verified by News24 from the Lands Ministry stating that the land belonged to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority.
The case will open a can of worms for Ruto, with the opposition and activists bound to rekindle the matter.
CORD leader Raila Odinga had called on the government to reclaim the land on which the hotel is built on as it is public property.
