Nairobi - Shock has gripped Mukhobola village in Busia County after a 60 year old man who had previously twice tried to take his life was found dead on Sunday morning.
The lifeless body of the man, who stayed alone was found dangling from the roof of his house by neighbours, after he was not seen for the last three days.
Concerned neighbours broke into his house only to be hit by a pungent smell coming from the deceased's decomposing body, which had a rope around its neck.
Patrick Ayiya the area assistant chief who confirmed the incident told News24 that it was not the first time the man attempted to take his life.
" The first time he tried to jump into River Nzoia and drown himself. The other day he locked himself in the house and set it ablaze. In both instances he was lucky because he was rescued, but we are sad we lost him in the third attempt,” explained the Chief.
Incidences of suicide have increased in Kenya according to reports, with a large number of suicides linked to depression either caused by failed relationships or hardships in life.
