Man shot dead in temple robbery

Police in Bungoma Tuesday gunned down a robber who broke into a Hindu temple as others took off.
The 32-year-old thug whose identity is not known is spending at the Bungoma district hospital mortuary awaiting identification.
Bungoma police boss Amos Cheboi said that police got information regarding the gang from desperate callers at the temple at the wee hours of the morning.
The police officers found the gang inside the temple where they exchanged gunshots.
''One man was gunned down as others took off and we are pursuing them. We have however taken the the deceased to the mortuary,'' said Cheboi.
The police boss said that the gang engaged into the shoot out compelling the officers in uniform to open fire.
He however said that nothing was stolen at the place.
