Kirinyaga - Police in Kirinyaga County have launched manhunt for a 32-year-old man who allegedly set his home on fire following a domestic quarrel with his wife.
The suspect, Antony Muchira, allegedly torched the family’s four-bedroom wooden house after his wife, Elizabeth Wakuthii, went to the market without his permission.
Wakuthii, who is a mother of two, told police that dispute erupted after she decided to go to the market to buy food stuffs for the family against her husband’s will.

She said that her husband had repeatedly warned her against visiting the market since they got married six years ago, but he never gave reasons for the same.
She said her husband set the house ablaze out of anger before fleeing to an unknown destination.
“The fire gutted the house and nothing was salvaged. Household items worth KES 300 000 were reduced to ashes,” said police boss, Charles Ontita, while confirming the incident.
